Description

Stemgen nurtures Spleen Yin. It helps improve the structure of the spleen. The spleen was believed to be an organ with similar functions to those of lymph nodes. Recent research has revealed that it is a crucial organ that hosts many lineages of stem cells that help maintain the body’s regenerative function. These stem cell lineages help bone marrow produce blood cells and regenerate pancreatic islet cells and other tissues. Research has found that patients who have their spleen removed due to trauma or injury develop diabetes later in life. This may explain why TCM views the spleen as the foundation of human health besides the stomach, kidneys, and adrenal gland.

1. Reactive Hypoglycemia: Low Blood Sugar and Blood Sugar Instability

Reactive hypoglycemia is a condition in which patients experience recurrent episodes of transient high blood sugar or hyperglycemia right after a meal followed by symptomatic hypoglycemia which occurs within 4 hours after consuming a high carbohydrate meal. The cause of the condition is poor secretion of insulin and glucagon from the pancreas which is due to a depletion of the pancreatic islet cells. The pancreas relies on the spleen to supply it with stem cells. These stem cells replace the pancreatic islet cells that are lost. If the spleen has a deficiency of stem cells, the pancreatic islet cells will gradually become depleted. Pancreatic islets produce both insulin and glucagon in response to changes in blood sugar. Patients with depleted pancreatic islets will have poor secretion of both insulin and glucagon. The transient high blood sugar right after a meal is caused by delayed insulin secretion. Symptoms include increased urination, extreme thirst, dry skin or mouth, facial flushing, headache, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, unusual drowsiness, lack of movement, rapid heartbeat, or difficulty breathing right after a meal. When blood sugar becomes low before the next meal, patients may find it difficult to bring their blood sugar back up to normal since glucagon cannot be secreted promptly by the pancreas. Low blood sugar is very dangerous, and the body will use glucocorticoids produced by the adrenal gland to increase glucose levels in the blood as a compensating mechanism. Cortisol is one type of glucocorticoid. Over time, the adrenal gland will be exhausted and lose its compensating ability to maintain blood sugar between meals, and patients may experience hypoglycemia. Symptoms include blurry vision, rapid heartbeat, sudden mood changes, nervousness, unexplained fatigue, pale skin, headache, hunger, shaking, sweating, difficulty sleeping, skin tingling, trouble thinking clearly or concentrating, or loss of consciousness. Stemgen nurtures the spleen and helps the spleen gain the ability to produce stem cells. Glucogen is also required to enhance spleen function to stabilize blood sugar.

Patients should notice symptom improvement in 1 week. 3-4 weeks of treatment is required to have significant improvement and sustained results.

2. Low Platelet Counts

One of the causes of a low platelet count is the bone marrow's inability to produce enough platelets and other blood cells. Symptoms include excessive bruising, superficial bleeding in the skin that appears as pinpoint-sized rashes, reddish-purple spots on the lower leg, or prolonged bleeding from cuts. Stemgen, with Glucogen, improves stem cell production from the spleen and helps bone marrow with platelet production.

Patients should notice symptom improvement in 1 week. 3-4 weeks of treatment is required to have significant improvement Low platelet count can also be caused by inflammation of the spleen and high turnover of platelets. Bitter is required for this condition.

3. High Blood Calcium, Hypercalcemia, and Muscle Weakness

Calcium levels are tightly regulated in the body. High blood calcium or hypercalcemia is very dangerous. For adults over 35 years of age, blood calcium should not be higher than 10.0 mg/dl. At high calcium levels, the muscle remains in a relaxed state and loses its strength of contracting which can cause general muscle weakness. If the muscles of the digestive tract weaken, it can cause symptoms of GERD, loss of appetite, nausea, or constipation. If the heart muscles weaken, it can cause problems with heart rhythm such as atrial fibrillation and life threatening cardiac arrest. If the skeletal muscles weaken, patients can be more prone to injuries and experience muscle pain. High blood calcium levels can also cause kidney stones and calcium deposits and plaque formation in the arteries. It also interferes with neurological function which can cause poor memory, confusion, and difficulty focusing. High calcium levels push the kidneys to work harder in order to filter excess calcium out. This can cause excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, exhaustion, flushing, and sleepiness after strenuous activity. Excessive blood calcium is usually leached from bones causing osteoporosis which results in burning pain in the bones and susceptibility to bone fractures. There are several causes of high blood calcium. One of the causes is low glucagon levels. One of glucagon’s functions is to stimulate the thyroid gland to secrete calcitonin which promotes calcium absorption into the bone. Another function of glucagon is to suppress the parathyroid gland to secrete parathyroid hormones which promotes calcium release from the bone. If the patient’s high blood calcium is caused by low glucagon levels, and the patient experiences reactive hypoglycemia, treatment with Stemgen and Glucagon is required.

Patients will experience symptom improvement within 1 week. 3-4 weeks of treatment is required to have significant improvement and sustained results. High blood calcium levels can also be caused by other conditions and a customized treatment plan is required.
