Hepavin helps remove liver heat and quenches liver Yang Rising. Liver heat refers to an over response of the liver to stress hormones such as cortisol and epinephrine with over production of inflammatory chemokines by the liver Kupffer cell. When the Liver Yang Rising reaches the brain, there can be inflammatory chemokine production in the brain causing brain inflammation and abnormal brain activities. Hepavin helps reduce the liver’s exaggerated response to stress and reduce the production of inflammatory chemokines. Brown and LC Balancer are also required to nurture the liver. Platinum is also required if there is brain inflammation.
1. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) includes obsessions with uncontrollable and recurring thoughts and compulsions with repetitive behaviors. In addition to the difficulty of controlling their urges, people with OCD may also have other symptoms such as inability to wake up in the morning, or morning shakiness. In TCM, the condition is referred to as liver heat or Liver Yang Rising. The rising liver Yang interrupts brain function and can result in OCD. Hepavin helps remove liver heat and clear the Rising Liver Yang. 2. Anxiety or Panic Attacks
Anxiety or panic attacks describe a feeling of intense fear or doom that moves quickly to the chest, heart, and head followed with sensations of heart palpitations, sudden choking, or shortness of breath. A person may feel as if they are going to die. In TCM, a sudden strong Liver Yang Rising can become a form of “Running Piglet Qi”. It is a TCM term which describes a feeling of “internal urgency” with restlessness or throbbing in the belly, or a feeling of energy rushing up toward the chest, throat, and head, along with a great fear. 3. Focal Seizure Syndrome, Numbness, Muscle Cramps and Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
Increased production of inflammatory chemokines by the liver Kupffer cell can trigger localized brain inflammatory responses causing abnormal brain activity. Such localized brain inflammation referred to as Brain Heat, can disturb brain activity causing focal seizure syndrome. A person may experience burning and pressure inside the brain with a wave-like sensation, feeling hot, body numbness or tingling, twitching, burning crawling sensation, muscle cramps, jerking of a limb, temporary inability to speak, migraines, and depression.
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is one type of focal seizure syndrome caused by localized brain inflammation. RLS is characterized by throbbing, pulling, creeping, or other unpleasant sensations in the legs, and an uncontrollable and sometimes overwhelming urge to move them. Symptoms occur when a person is relaxed or at rest and can increase in severity during the night due to the reduced inhibition by conscious neuron activity.

4. Bell’s Palsy
Bell’s Palsy is a condition that causes a temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles in one side of the face resulting in face drooping and inability to open or close the eye on the affected side. Such muscle weakness or paralysis is caused by the inflammation of the seventh cranial nerve which controls the facial muscles. Increased production of inflammatory chemokines by the liver Kupffer cells can trigger localized brain inflammation with the activation of microglia. When the microglia are activated, they release cytotoxic agents which irritate the facial nerve causing its inflammation and resulting in the development of Bell’s Palsy.

5. Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a temporary symptom similar to a regular stroke. Symptoms include numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body, vision problems, and slurred speech. These symptoms are transient and will disappear within 24 hours. TIA is caused by the temporary interruption or blockage of the blood flow to the brain. Such blockage can be caused by a blood clot that subsequently dissolves or vasospasm resulting in temporary narrowing of the blood vessel lumen. A buildup of atherosclerotic plaque in a blood vessel that supports the brain can also cause TIA. Although a transient ischemic attack doesn’t cause lasting symptoms, it is a serious warning sign of an impending stroke. About 40 percent of people who have had this type of stroke go on to have an actual stroke.
Vasospasm of the cerebral blood vessel can be caused by cytotoxic agents such as proinflammatory cytokines, reactive oxygen intermediates, proteinases and complement proteins released by chronic activation of microglia in response to brain injury, and/or inflammation triggered by inflammatory chemokines produced by the liver Kupffer cells. The irritation of the cytotoxic agents to the cerebral blood vessels causes vasospasm. Transient ischemic vasospasm is a condition referred to as Liver Wind caused by Liver Yang Rising in TCM.
Hepavin together with Platinum, Brown, and LC Balancer helps clear Liver / Brain heat as well as Liver Wind to relieve the vasoconstrictions. Anginen-R is also recommended to help relieve cerebral blood vessel constriction and increase blood flow to the brain. For TIA caused by atherosclerotic plaque, CV and CV-R are recommended to help dissolve the plaque. For TIA caused by a blood clot, Resurgen, Surgenin and Surgenin-R are recommended to help reduce cerebral blood vessel inflammation, dissolve the clots, and repair blood vessel injury.
