Glomerucin helps clear the damp heat and toxins from the kidneys. It helps reduce the inflammation of the kidneys filtration units, called glomeruli as well as clear the infection. For severe conditions, Thistle is also recommended to clear the heat in the liver and blood to further reduce the urine protein levels. If there is structural damage to the glomeruli, Lingustrum is recommended to nurture the Yin and blood and help repair the injury.
1. Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis is the inflammation and infection of the the glomeruli. The inflammation and infection of the glomeruli can injure the filters’ structure and affect its filtration ability to get rid of waste and extra fluid in the body. Glomerulonephritis can be caused by infections from bacteria, viruses, mycobacteria, fungi or parasites as well as from autoimmune conditions.
Acute glomerulonephritis can develop suddenly following an infection such as in the throat or skin. Symptoms may include puffiness of the face in the morning due to water retention, bubbly or foamy urine due to protein leakage into the urine, blood in urine or brown urine due to the leakage of blood, and decreased urine output. In a more severe case, patients may develop shortness of breath and cough because of extra fluid in the lungs and high blood pressure. If the condition continues, the kidneys may stop working which can result in kidney failure.
The chronic form may develop silently without symptoms over several years. Early signs and symptoms may include blood or protein in the urine (hematuria, proteinuria), high blood pressure, swelling of the ankles or face (edema), frequent nighttime urination, and very bubbly or foamy urine. Chronic glomerulonephritis often leads to complete kidney failure. Symptoms of kidney failure include lack of appetite, nausea and vomiting, tiredness, difficulty sleeping, dry and itchy skin, and nighttime muscle cramps.
2. Nephrotic syndrome
Nephrotic syndrome occurs when the kidneys start losing large amounts of protein in the urine as a result of kidney and/or glomeruli inflammation. The inflammation of the kidney and/or glomeruli can also cause the blood to leak from the bloodstream into the urine. Patients may also have a high amount of protein and blood in their urine and reduced urine output which results in fluid buildup in the body and high blood pressure.
The cause of nephrotic syndrome may come from kidney diseases such as glomerulonephritis kidney infections, autoimmune conditions, inflammation of the blood vessels, or other conditions such as diabetes. The condition may last for many years and eventually lead to kidney failure.
Glomerucin clears the damp heat in the kidney and helps reduce the inflammation and infection of the glomeruli and resolve the nephrotic syndrome caused by glomeruli inflammation. It helps reduce the leakage of protein and blood into the urine and helps to resume the filtration function to filter the waste and fluid out of the blood and clear the edema. Patients can experience symptom improvement in 1 week. For acute glomerulonephritis 3-4 weeks of treatment is required. For chronic glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome 2-3 months of treatment is required and LC Balancer and Xcel are also recommended to improve the kidney function.
If patients have very high levels of protein and/blood in urine and the improvement plateaus with the use of Glomerucin, Thistle is recommended to clear the heat in the liver and blood to help bring down the urine protein and blood levels.
For patients with chronic glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome or for patients who have glomeruli structure damage with symptoms of back or flank pain, Lingustrum is also recommended to help nurture the Yin and Blood and help repair the injury.
Suggested Dosage: 3 capsules, 3 times a day.
